Tangerine Cotton Dress + Strappy Sandals.

Tangerine Cotton Dress + Strappy Sandals.

After my khaki moment earlier this summer, I decided to take this tangerine cotton dress for a spin. We’re in the dog days out here in Kansas City! High heat and humidity are the only thing in the forecast, so I reach for breathable pieces above all else.

This dress is a really simple cut: a shift with a muscle tee shoulder. The cotton has a little ribbing, which gives it a lux touch. It’s not bodycon (heaven forbid, not in July), so you can maximize airflow despite the midi length. And that color?! C’mon, it’s perfect for the second half of summer. Fire coral, tangerine, the color of a deep August sunset.

I wanted to lean into that summer factor, so the puca shell pendant came out of the accessories collection. Also from the archive: a pair of neutral platform strappy sandals from the days when Victoria’s Secret sold shoes. (Colin Stuart! Anyone remember?) I finished with a pair of simple-but-chunky hoops, a handful of fun gold rings, and the Ray-Bans I live for– all of it spelled summer outfitting success!

This dress is a winner because it’s super versatile. (Like so many things I wear and choose to feature both here on the blog and in KC Homes & Style!) It’s perfect for summertime at the office, but it can easily go to a casual brunch if you swap out the sandals for a sneaker. Throw an oversized denim jacket and a chunky Birkenstock on and you’ve got a tomboy vibe; wrap your hair in a topknot, swipe on a red lip, and add a festive heel, and now you’re the chicest wedding guest. We love a piece with range!
