A ribbed dress for spring paired with a closet classic.
Ribbed dresses for spring? Yep, you read that right. The key is to choose a dress with a lightweight knit (no wool!) so it’s breathable. Look for cotton blends. I picked up this black ribbed dress a few weeks back after seeing so many bodycon knit dresses as part of spring collections. It feels very 90s, so obviously my interest was piqued.
Another key to making a ribbed dress work for spring is to find a short-sleeved or sleeveless version. (The one I’m wearing here is sleeveless.) That immediately dials back the fall factor and will look pretty chic worn alone with a pair of strappy sandals on summery date nights.
It’s still coolish here in KC, so jackets are a must. (And windy! So windy here this spring!) I love breaking out a closet classic in cases like this– like the denim jacket. This one is from Old Navy is such a solid find. All-American fashion goodness, right here. I dressed this up with the tortoiseshell sandals from last season because they added the right amount of polish.

The end-result outfit is chic, goes to the office (if you’re back in that mode), or out on an easy date night. Patio drinks in the cooler evenings in this ribbed knit? You’re good. The denim jacket makes it even cozier.
