Denim Dress + Nude Booties.

Denim Dress + Nude Booties.

Skirting around fall in a denim dress.

I love a good denim dress. It’s so reminiscent of kindergarten for me, when I would turn up most days to school in an Osh Kosh denim jumper of some sort. Even though this Boohoo number is far edgier than anything I wore as a 5-year old, there’s still that back-to-school vibe, with a boho twist.

And while fall is lingering on the horizon with crisp mornings and evenings, midday is still in summer mode. (Even in early October!) Bare legs and a peep toe balance out the darker denim, while a nude ankle bootie is a very fall choice and goes well with the dress.

I played up the boho by adding a wide-brim hat. My exact one is sold out, but you can score similar versions here and here. Now that we’ve cooled off in KC a bit, adding a hat doesn’t seem quite as oppressive. Altogether, this look is very Pop-Folk Singer Debut Album Cover, am I right?

I’m doing my best to savor this time of year, while summer and fall are fighting it out. I know I’ll miss 80-degree days come February, and there’s something to be said about not always looking far ahead, so as you miss what’s happening in the now. Not pictured: the fall mums stacked in the corner of my patio, waiting for the arrival of the inevitable pumpkin or two. ??
