With Labor Day in the rearview, everyone is gearing up for fall. Stores are packed with sweaters and pumpkin spice everything is back on menus. Kansas City, however, usually waits a tick before making that autumn switch; it’ll still feel like summer for another few weeks. I’m milking the moment in a sweet summery prairie dress, which is featured in this month’s edition of Kansas City Homes & Style.
I love a breezy summer dress, and this prairie number checks that box. The smocking through the bodice is really comfy (no bra!) and flattering; it also works nicely against the puffier feminine sleeve. I love peekaboo lace on the tiered ruffles– a pretty girly outfit from yours truly, if I do say so myself!
A pink and orange wedge added a touch more color, and I leaned into that femme vibe with a pink barrette and cat-eye sunnies. Don’t forget the mile-high hair!
The end result of the look is cottagecore girliness at its finest. A great outfit to enjoy soaking up those last summer rays as we prep for a new season.
