The color combo in this sweater sounds a little odd on paper: mustard yellow and blush pink. (Leave it to Free People to pull that off.) But it inspired me to use the mustard stripe in these Adidas track pants to create this offbeat fall outfit. These pants aren’t the parachute tearaways of our youth. Instead, they’re a sophisticated version made of a hefty crepe material that gives the perfect drape. The cut is more of a classic trouser than a post-soccer practice pant, so pairing it with an oversized fall sweater really worked here.
I added hints of black throughout to keep things from feeling too airy. Black sunglasses, an exposed black tank top strap, and the coolest belt in my closet pepper the look, making it more appropriate for fall. I love this belt so much, I snagged it in brown suede as well. It’s thin enough to slip through all your belt loops, and the structural gold hardware makes it a standout piece.
Now, a simple leather sneaker is the obvious choice here. But I wanted a pointed-toe heel to push the boundaries of this look. This nude pump isn’t so bold on its own, but paired with a track pant? Fun, cool, different. I also like how the blushy-nude color of the heel ties back in with the blush stripe in the sweater.
Hope you’re having a sweet start to the fall season!
