A striped linen romper in the last days of July.
We are definitely in the heat of summer right now. Late July through the end of August is crazy hot + humid here in Kansas City. While style might be the last thing on our minds, opting for nothing but chiffon muumuus is out of the question. Enter the romper (like a striped linen romper, for example). I love a printed romper because the one-piece factor makes it easy (it’s the only thing you put on; no fussing over matching separates) and the print gives it some oomph. This striped linen romper checked both of those boxes and a bonus: lightweight linen to stay cool.
I wanted some height, so I grabbed some wedges in go-with-anything brown. A pair of statement earrings made the look appropriate for date night and brought out the blue of the romper’s stripe. (Similar version here for under $10!) And that was it: no extra accessories (except a hair tie I kept handy to put my lion’s mane up) or anything else needed.
The blue linen stripe gives this romper a very summer feel; there will be no wearing this piece come fall. That’s okay; not everything has to translate to another season. I love that I don’t have to wear a bra with this particular striped linen romper– girls, you know the torture of wearing/sweating through an underwire bra in the summer! It’s one of the least pleasant things about June-August.
