A dreamy corset dress with the It Sneaker in a pretty sage green color.
With spring just about a week away, it’s the perfect time to talk transitional spring style. KC is starting to bloom out and green up, but temps are still relatively cool most days. I’m starting to work in spring trends, like this floral corset dress, but pairing them with warmer pieces to walk that winter-to-spring line.
First thoughts on the dress: really pretty, right? That floral is the daintiest and the corset detailing creates a beautiful waist. This dress style is just so romantic! It would make an amazing wedding guest dress, summer date night dress, or a bridal shower dress– but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I grabbed a cozy blush pink cable knit sweater and threw it over my shoulders to warm it up for the March/April issue of Kansas City Homes & Style. The combo strikes the right transitional balance.
I wanted a casual shoe, so I chose these sage green Adidas Sambas. Adidas is experiencing a major street style resurgence, with Gazelle, Samba, and Spezial styles giving us options over chunkier sneakers that have been at the fashion forefront.
My finishing touch was a sprinkling of jewelry with pearl details. Pearls are everywhere right now, and I love mixing them with other gold and silver pieces.
If sneakers and girly dresses aren’t your thing, be my guest and swap these Sambas out for a flirty heel. You could do a closed-toe pump or a strappy sandal, whatever you like. Going with a shoe with a heel definitely elevates this look into date night or fancy wedding guest territory.
And if it’s not quite warm enough in your part of the country for bare shoulders, put the sweater on over the dress. Instant coziness. Don’t want to lose your waist? Grab a belt, cinch it around the dress, then slip on the sweater and tuck its hem into the belt.
